Xiaomi Initiates HyperOS Update Testing for Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started testing its custom Android-based HyperOS software update for the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G device, according to a report by Xiaomiui.
The latest HyperOS test build carries the version number OS1.0.1.0.THGMIXM and has been spotted on Xiaomi’s servers. The ‘MI’ in the software version suggests this initial release of HyperOS will be rolled out globally.
Unfortunately, the Android version remains 13 rather than 14, indicated by the ‘T’ in the firmware version. This means Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G owners eager to test out HyperOS features will not get to try the newest Android 14 OS.
HyperOS is Xiaomi’s customized Android skin that will eventually replace MIUI on its devices. The update brings performance improvements, UI changes, new features and other enhancements over stock Android.
Several Xiaomi phones in China have already received their first HyperOS updates. The global rollout is expected to start in late January or early February 2024 for eligible devices.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G was launched in October 2022 as a mid-range smartphone. It features a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G chipset.
Key specs include up to 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, a 108MP main camera, 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.
The HyperOS update will add new functionality and a fresh look to the existing software on the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G. It is likely to improve performance, camera quality, UI visuals and overall user experience.
Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G owners should receive an OTA notification when the stable HyperOS build is ready. The update rollout will be gradual, so some users may get it sooner than others.
As one of Xiaomi’s latest mid-range 5G smartphones globally, the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G getting HyperOS underscores the company’s commitment to providing continued software support.
The report indicates Xiaomi is on track to deliver the customized Android experience through HyperOS to more devices. Existing Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G users can look forward to an enhanced user interface and new features soon.
