HyperOS Won’t Come to Xiaomi Phones With Unlocked Bootloader
Xiaomi has changed its Bootloader Unlocking policy in China and HyperOS won’t come to Xiaomi phones with an unlocked bootloader.
This is a piece of sad news that Xiaomi is now going to change its bootloader unlocking policy in China and after receiving HyperOS on Xiaomi phones, a user may not be able to unlock the bootloader in a simple way. According to the reports, Xiaomi is updating its bootloader unlocking policy and users have to follow some strict rules to unlock their bootloader. On the other hand, Xiaomi also mentioned that HyperOS won’t come to Xiaomi phones with an unlocked bootloader. A user must have a locked bootloader to receive the HyperOS OTA update. Also, some reports say that this same rule will be applied for Global users.
Now it will become more difficult to unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi phone as Xiaomi is adopting a new method that is quite different from the current one. These are the steps to unlock the bootloader after receiving the HyperOS update on your Xiaomi phone:

New Rules:
- Reach level 5 in the community
- Real name verification
- Participate in answering questions
- Apply once, valid for only one year (need to reapply after one year)
- Unlock up to 3 devices per year
- 72-hour waiting period for unlocking
- Locked Bootloader is mandatory to receive HyperOS updates
It is sad news that some Xiaomi users have to learn new methods to unlock their bootloader. Xiaomi also mentioned that if any abnormal account behavior is detected, the Mi Account will be banned. Interestingly, Xiaomi users will also have to answer an MCQ questionnaire about bootloader and Fastboot commands with 15 15-minute time limit.
