Hurrah! POCO M5 starts getting HyperOS update Globally
The POCO M5, a budget smartphone from Xiaomi’s POCO brand, has started receiving the HyperOS software update globally. HyperOS is Xiaomi’s latest operating system that will replace MIUI on its devices.
The POCO M5 was one of the Xiaomi phones scheduled to get the HyperOS update in January 2024, as per a list shared by the company a few days ago. The rollout has now begun for POCO M5 users worldwide.
The latest HyperOS 1.0.2.0.ULUMIXM update for the POCO M5 is based on Android 14. It brings the phone up to date with the latest December 2023 Android security patch level, which fixes vulnerabilities and boosts system security.
Apart from the security enhancements, the update also brings a smoother, faster and more optimized software experience to the POCO M5, as promised by HyperOS. Xiaomi claims the new operating system is specifically fine-tuned for its devices.
HyperOS has a renewed design and interface compared to MIUI 14. It focuses on delivering a seamless, efficient and personalized experience to users. The update for the POCO M5 also packs in several new features of HyperOS.
The rollout is being carried out in phases, with select POCO M5 users receiving it first. This is standard practice to ensure no major bugs or issues impact a wide user base. If no problems are reported in the initial release, the stable update will be expanded to more users.
POCO M5 owners can manually check for the HyperOS update by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > About Phone
- Tap on the MIUI version
- This will open the Updater app
- In Updater, click on the Check for Updates button
- If available, the HyperOS update can be downloaded and installed from here by following the on-screen instructions.
The gradual rollout of HyperOS for the POCO M5 indicates Xiaomi is on track to meet its update schedule for this year. Users can expect more Xiaomi and POCO phones to start getting the new HyperOS update in subsequent months.
We will keep tracking the release and share updates as more Xiaomi devices start receiving HyperOS globally or in specific regions. Stay tuned for more information.
