Xiaomi Rolls Out January 2024 Security Patch for Redmi 10C

Xiaomi has started rolling out the latest January 2024 Android security patch for its budget smartphone, the Redmi 10C. The update is currently hitting units globally and will reach all users over the coming weeks.

The Redmi 10C was launched in March 2022 as an affordable smartphone with decent specifications. It runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. The phone packs a Snapdragon 680 chipset, up to 6GB RAM, 64MP triple rear cameras, and a 5000mAh battery.

The latest MIUI 14.0.5.0.TGEMIXM update for the device integrates the January 2024 security patch. This will help improve the system security of the Redmi 10C by fixing critical vulnerabilities. The update also brings optimizations to system stability and performance as per Xiaomi’s official changelog.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi rolled out the January 2024 security update for the Redmi Note 11 – making it the first Xiaomi phone to get the latest security patch. The Redmi 10C becomes the third Xiaomi phone after the Note 11 to grab the January 2024 security improvements.

Users of the Redmi 10C can check for the new MIUI 14.0.5.0 update manually by going into Settings > About phone > System updates. The OTA package size is not known yet.

As with all updates, Xiaomi is rolling out the January 2024 security patch in a phased manner. It may take some time to reach all Redmi 10C units globally. Users are advised to install the update while connected to a strong Wi-Fi network and keep the battery level above 30 per cent.

The January 2024 security patch by Google fixes several critical vulnerabilities in the Android OS. Installing the latest security update is recommended to keep the Redmi 10C safe from new threats. Xiaomi is expected to roll out similar updates for its other phones in the coming weeks.
